Engelsk definition Homicidal sleepwalking, also known as homicidal somnambulism or sleepwalking murder, is the act of killing someone during an episode of sleepwalking. There have been some cases in which an act of homicide has occurred and the prime suspect may have committed the act while sleepwalking. The veracity of recorded cases is disputed. Using special techniques allowing for subject mobility, we obtained continuous electroencephalographic recordings of known sleepwalkers. Somnambulistic incidents occurred during periods of slow-wave sleep.

On the basis of a range of physiological measures including electroencephalogram (EEG) activity, eye movement activity, and level of muscle tone, sleep is divided into two very distinct states—rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and … during somnambulism, raising fundamental questions about the medicoforensic implications of these acts and the neurophysiological and cognitive states that charac-terise patients during such episodes. Advanced forms of brain imaging such as the PET scan are currently not applicable to the study of parasomnias since subjects must be observed for hours or days until an event spontaneously occurs.

Abstract The goal of this report is to review all aspects of sleepwalking (SW), also known as somnambulism. Various factors seem to initiate SW, especially drugs, stress, and sleep deprivation. As an etiology, heredity is important, but other conditions include thyrotoxicosis, stress, and herpes simplex encephalitis.
Sleep Medicine, 2013. Antonio Zadra 2007-04-01 · There was no family history of somnambulism. Physical examination was normal and a mental status examination was unremarkable.
